ALICE welcomes Dharma Subramanian as VP of Product. Dharma joins the team at a pivotal time, as the Product department goes through a period of strategic growth and Agile transformation. His role will focus on all aspects of product management and expansion of the team as well as working with senior leadership to create and implement strategic product decisions. As ALICE is moving to Agile/Scrum, Dharma will also drive this transformation through the lens of product.
Dharma brings a wealth of experience to the role, including his near 20 years working in business and technology and an impressive education in Engineering and Computer Science. Dharma started his career as a Customer Data Integration Competency Leader and has since worked as a Senior Management Consultant, Director of Product Management and Vice President of Product Management, Applications & Analytics for companies such as Unisys, IBM, Veeva Systems, and Reltio. Dharma received his BE in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Madras and his MS in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Computer Science at Iowa State University.
Our People team sat down with Dharma to discuss with him why he is excited to join ALICE at this exciting stage of growth in our Product organization.
What made you decide to join to ALICE?
ALICE’s team, culture, vision and track record of introducing digital transformation capabilities in hotel operations were the key drivers for me to decide to come to ALICE. While the customer-facing side of hotel operations is going through rapid digital conversion, the rest of the operations are still using dated technologies and processes. There is a significant set of opportunities to introduce digital capabilities in hotel operations across front- and back-of-house departments to impact guest experience.
What do you think you can bring to ALICE as you take on this new role?
I have a lot of experience building and leading high performing teams that are built from the ground up across all aspects of product, product management, marketing, development, quality assurance, etc which I believe will be truly impactful.
The second thing is that most recently I’ve worked at a similar size startup company, so I’ve seen how the operations, especially in product and product management, scale up to meet the internal and external demands of the company.
What most excites you about joining the ALICE team?
There are many reasons I am excited to join ALICE. One main reason is the unique position we are at to really grow and provide value for our customers. While there are other systems on the market that have piecemeal solutions, we take a holistic approach. ALICE is uniquely positioned to help hotels improve their customer experience and compete more effectively with emerging digital platforms like Airbnb.
What is something you like to do in your free time?
I try to play tennis as much as I can. I recently signed up for a USDA league for a local club, so that’s my spring and summer achievement. My family also just adopted a labradoodle puppy!
